Gather with us to worship the God who saves sinners.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We know it can be difficult to visit a new church and to find a new church home.

Being in a transient area, we consider it part of our ministry to clearly and quickly communicate who we are and what you can expect as a guest and even as a member of our church. We understand the importance of getting established into a church home, however long you live in an area.

Below is a list of regular events we have. Click on each one to read a description of them. They will give you an idea of what to expect in our regular gatherings and other events. To learn more about us, read our About Page.  If you want to ask some questions, please reach out through the contact form below and let us know how we can best contact you. We hope to see you soon!
WORSHIP SERVICE (SUNDAY 10:45 AM)
We gather to worship the Lord, build up His church, and give witness to His gospel. Teaching and applying God's word in scripture is the centerpiece of our gathering. In response to scripture, we sing and pray several times throughout the service. We sing a good mix of biblically-sound, God-honoring hymns and songs that help us worship God and confess our faith one to another. Prayers are led by various members in the church. We come ready to encourage one another in the gospel.

We aspire to be a church that centers our preparation, conduct, and order of worship on God and His gospel, not on ourselves. We pray that our worship service strikes a good balance of warmth, joy, and reverence. Come ready to hear and respond to God's word with God at the center, His gospel as our message, and holy love as its fruit.

We have a good mixture of people. Some are old, young, single, married, born in the USA, or born in another country. Some dress up, and some dress semi-casual. Some raise their hands when they sing, some don't. Some write copious notes during the sermon, and others just listen and use the bulletin later in their devotions. The Gospel unites all sorts of people in Christ, and that is much of the beauty of the local church.

Families are welcome and encouraged to include their children with them during the worship service. There is childcare available during the service for children up through age six. We provide a safe and easy check-in process with our teachers. The children sings songs and hear lessons that correspond to the lessons taught in our Growth Groups classes.

Many families keep their children with them to be a part of the gathered church. We believe children see and take in far more than we realize. Where else can they regularly see a small foretaste of the eternity we desire for them than by being with the gathered church on the Lord's day? God has given us a multi-generational church, and we thank Him for it!

We are a church in which you can know everyone and have community as a family. Being in a transient area, our attendance and membership fluctuates. If you would like, you can meet a few people after the service during the cookie reception and maybe join someone for lunch. We'll be glad to help you get connected with others.

We hope to see you soon!
GROWTH GROUP CLASSES (SUNDAY 9:30 AM)
Some of our church comes early at 9:30 AM on Sundays to fellowship over coffee and breakfast before then participating in a class. We have classes for children, students, and adults.

Children & Preteens
After a safe and easy check-in process, children and student classes are led by loving teachers who engage the students in songs, activities, and lessons that have been approved and provided by the pastors of our church. We aim to partner with parents in teaching the gospel while going through the Bible in three years. Parents are invited to receive corresponding "At Home" material through our app for use with family devotions.

Adults & Teens
Adults and older students participate in classes together. Most classes teach and apply the Bible topically. Some classes have a time of sharing and praying for one another, and some are more interactive than others. When we do not have multiple classes simultaneously, we have one combined class.

Purpose
Our vision for the Growth Group hour is to engage the church in small group discipleship that extends throughout the week and serves as a format for developing and multiplying Bible teachers in the church and in our homes.

Expect this array of Bible teaching:
Bible Topics and Christian Living
Old and New Testament Theology
Biblical Theology
Systematic Theology
Church History

If you are thinking about coming to one of these classes, we recommend you first come to a Sunday worship service and then join us the following week in a Growth Group class. However, you are more than welcome to first come to one of these classes.
MIDWEEK SERVICE (WEDNESDAY 6:30 PM)
Some of our church gathers in the middle of the week to participate in a Bible study, sing a couple songs, and pray together. Bible studies may be on a Bible topic, a deep dive from a Sunday sermon, or an interactive inductive study of a passage.

Around once a month, we dedicate most of the service to structured prayer time. When we pray, everyone stays together with several leading longer prayers, many praying brief and specific prayers, everyone having times of quiet prayer, and all breaking up prayer with singing together. Audible prayers are always one person at a time. Some pray along quietly without ever praying aloud. This gives us opportunity to minister in prayer together and to learn how to pray.

Everyone is provided a handout that guides us through topics and scriptures for prayer and songs to sing. We find this to be a beautiful and refreshing time together. You would be very welcome to join us.
OTHER EVENTS
We usually schedule other events on Sunday afternoons or evenings. This gives the church a predictable way to plan their calendar. We know weekday schedules and traffic can be very full in our DC area.

Other events include the Lord's Supper and Meal, Members Meetings and Fellowships, Church Picnics and Activities, Youth Activities, Men's and Women's Book Fellowships, Local Outreach and Evangelism, Young Adults Activities, Senior Potlucks, etc.

We prioritize in our calendar God's design and scriptural instruction for all generations of the church to engage with one another in discipleship. While we have programs and events that connect people by age and interests, the core of our events are for all or most of the church. We love to see younger people talking with older members in the church, single members talking with married members, and multigenerational discipleship.

We publish events in our church app, online calendar, and printed bulletin (upcoming events). We do not spend much time talking about these events during our worship service in order to avoid cluttering our worship service with announcements. However, our cookie reception that is after every worship service is a great time to ask people about these events.
